1. guidance

: advice or information aimed at resolving a problem or difficulty, especially as given by someone in authority

: cf) advice

 

ex) The handbook gives helpful guidance on writing articles.

ex) We need guidance on completing the tax form.

ex) I think you should seek guidance from your lawyer on this matter.

ex) The Safety Officer provides guidance on firefighting and office safety.

 

 

2. go over
: to examine or look at sth in a careful or detailed way

: If you go over a document, incident, or problem, you examine, discuss, or think about it very carefully.

 

ex) Go over your work for spelling mistakes before you hand it in.
ex) Let's go over the instructions.
ex) We have a lot to go over today.

ex) **Review a document or plan**: "Could you go over this proposal before our meeting tomorrow? I want to make sure we didn't miss anything."
ex) **Discuss in a meeting**: "We need to go over the quarterly financial reports in the next team meeting."
ex) **Explain a concept or procedure**: "I'll go over the new software update in the training session so everyone understands how to use it."

 

3. get the picture
: if you get the picture, you understand the situation, especially one which someone is describing to you. 

:  to understand a situation or the way things are.

ex) You've said enough. I get the picture.
ex) Luke never tells you the whole story, but you always get the picture.

: After explaining a complex project, you might ask a colleague, "Do you get the picture?" to confirm they understand.
ex) **Recognizing a Pattern**
: If a friend is always late and has just cancelled plans with you again, you might say, "She's always cancelling at the last minute. I'm starting to get the picture."
ex) **Grasping a Concept**
: In a classroom, a teacher might explain a concept in several different ways and then ask the students, "Do you all get the picture?" 
ex) **Inferring from Context**: If someone is hinting at something without stating it directly, you might say, "You don't need to explain any further. I get the picture."

 

4. get the hang of it
: learn or begin to understand how to do, use sth
: learn how to do sth, especially if it is not obvious or simple

: If you get the hang of something such as a skill or activity, you begin to understand or realize how to do it.

ex) It is not difficult once you get the hang of it.
ex) It might take some time, but I know you'll get the hang of it.
ex)  A: I've never used this software before.
       B: Don't worry. You'll soon get the hang of it.

ex) It's a bit tricky at first till you get the hang of it.
