#1. Disrupt

: if sb or sth disrupts an event, system, or process, they cause difficulties that prevent it from continuing or operating in a normal way.

: to prevent sth from continuing in its usual way by causing problems. 

 

ex) Inevitably, this tragedy has seriously disrupted Rosie's school work.

ex) Heavy snow disrupted travel into the city this morning. 

ex) They warned that climate change could potentially disrupt economic activity. 

ex) The bad weather has seriously disrupted supplies of food.

 

 

#2. Disturbing 

: making you feel worried or upset.

 

ex) The following programme contains scenes that may be disturbing to some viewers.

ex) The article described the latest crime figures as "disturbing".

ex) Pollution has reached disturbingly high levels in some urban areas.

ex) There was a disturbingly high number of crimes last year. 

 

 

#3. Differ
: if two or more things differ, they are unlike each other in some way

: if people differ about sth, they do not agree with each other about it. 

 

ex) The two sides still differ over details of the plan.

ex) The two lawyers differed about how to present the case. 

ex) Medical opinion differs as to how to treat the disease.

ex) The two systems differ in many respects. 

ex) Ideas on childcare may differ considerably between the parents.

ex) The story he told police differed from the one he told his mother. 

ex) Recent studies have found that people who have grown up in the digital age differ significantly from the older generation in their ability to recall basic information without assistance from an electronic device.
