1. as long as (so long as)

: if you say that something is the case as long as or so long as something else is the case, you mean that it is only the case if the second thing is the case.

: if:

: You can use as long as or so long as to say that one thing is true only if another thing is true. 

ex) As long as you are under 16, you can take part in activities. (= If you are under 16, you can take part in activities.)

ex) The interior minister said he would still support them, as long as they didn't break the rules.

ex) I eat as much as I want, so long as it is healthy. 

 

2. as with

: Like, Just like / In the same way

 

ex) As with all new ideas it met with resistance.

ex) As with his earlier movies, the special effects in his latest film are brilliant.

3. as for

: You use as for and as to at the beginning of a sentence in order to introduce a slightly different subject that is still connected to the previous one.

ex) He was a nice enough person, but as for his suggestions, I found them unhelpful.

ex) The city has some wonderful museums. As for hotels 'Coco Reef' is a great choice.

 

4. as the saying goes

: A phrase highlighting or introducing some axiomatic sentiment.

 

ex) As the saying goes - it's no use crying over spilt milk.

ex) As the saying goes , "There's no smoke without fire."
