#2. incur
: If you incur something unpleasant, it happens to you because of something you have done.
: to experience something, usually something unpleasant, as a result of actions you have taken:
: The word "incurred" means to experience or bring upon oneself something undesirable, especially as a consequence of one's own actions or decisions. In a financial or business context, it often refers to acquiring or coming into something, usually costs or liabilities, as a result of one's actions.
ex) The company has incurred huge losses over the past three years.
ex) The hire of a car and other equipment will of course incur a supplementary charge.
ex) I will pay any expenses incurred.
ex) We incurred heavy expenses to repair the poor work done by the builder.
ex) Please detail any costs/expenses incurred by you in attending the interview.
ex) By misclassifying the goods on the import declaration, the importer incurred heavy penalties from the customs authorities.
ex) The new tariff regulations meant that businesses importing goods from that region would incur additional costs.
