#1. identify 
: If you identify sth, you discover or notice its existence. 
: recognize a problem, need, fact, etc. and to show that it exists. 

: to recognize and name someone or something based on their characteristics or qualities. It's often used to describe the process of establishing or determining the nature or key aspects of something, especially in a business context.

 

ex) Technology development is costly and time-consuming; hence, it is critical to identify customer needs early. 

ex) They are trying to identify what is wrong with the present system.

ex) Scientists have identified a link between diet and cancer. 

ex) I tried to identify any potential problems with the plan. 

ex) The team worked to identify key market trends that could impact our product launch.

ex) Our first step is to identify potential risks associated with the new investment strategy.
ex) The consultant was brought in to help identify areas where the company could reduce costs without impacting quality.
ex) The customer service department needs to identify the common complaints received to improve client satisfaction.

 

 

#2. incur
: If you incur something unpleasant, it happens to you because of something you have done.
: to experience something, usually something unpleasant, as a result of actions you have taken:
: The word "incurred" means to experience or bring upon oneself something undesirable, especially as a consequence of one's own actions or decisions. In a financial or business context, it often refers to acquiring or coming into something, usually costs or liabilities, as a result of one's actions.

ex) The company has incurred huge losses over the past three years.
ex) The hire of a car and other equipment will of course incur a supplementary charge.
ex) I will pay any expenses incurred.

ex) We incurred heavy expenses to repair the poor work done by the builder.
ex) Please detail any costs/expenses incurred by you in attending the interview.

ex) By misclassifying the goods on the import declaration, the importer incurred heavy penalties from the customs authorities.

ex) The new tariff regulations meant that businesses importing goods from that region would incur additional costs.
ex) Our shipment was delayed at the border, and we incurred extra charges due to the extended customs clearance process.
ex) To avoid incurring high taxes, the company sought advice on the most cost-effective methods of shipping goods internationally.

In each of these examples, "incur" is used to denote the acquisition of financial charges or penalties as a direct result of actions taken in the process of importing goods and dealing with customs regulations.

 

 

#3. in advance of sth
: If one thing happens or is done in advance of another, it happens or is done before the other thing.

ex) Investing in South Korea, in advance of the reunification, could be a wise move to prepare for these new chances.
ex) They began to make preparations several days in advance of her arrival.
ex) People were evacuated from the coastal regions in advance of the hurricane.
ex) The only requirements are that employees must have worked here at least five years, and applications for the time off must be made at least 90 days in advance. 
ex) Please ensure to complete all necessary documentation and obtain the required permits in advance of importing your products to avoid any delays or complications at customs.
ex) Please note that payment must be made in advance of our delivery to ensure that your order is processed and shipped promptly.
