1. work on
: to make an effort to do sth
: to be busy with a particular activity, project, piece of research, etc.
ex) You need to work on your pronunciation a bit more.
ex) I've been working on this project for months.
ex) The committee worked on ways to raise money.
ex) They are currently working on finding a cure. (= trying to find a cure.)
ex) A: What are you working on? You look so focused.
B: I'm working on a proposal. I need to finish it by the end of the day.
2. well-informed
: having extensive knowledge especially of current topics and events
: If you say that someone is well-informed, you mean that they know a lot about many different subjects or about one particular subject.
ex) Young people should be well-informed about current events.
ex) Marilyn is well-informed about the stock market.
ex) How well informed is the customer about the range, quality, and cost of the products on offer?
ex) This is a subject for serious, well-informed discussion, not tabloid headlines.
3. weigh
: if you weigh the facts about a situation, you consider them very carefully before you make a decision, especially by comparing the various facts involved. (weigh up means the same as weigh) (cf. evaluate)
ex) Please weigh the options carefully before deciding.
ex) We have to weigh the benefits of the scheme against the costs.
ex) You have to weigh up whether a human life is more important than an animal's life.
ex) You must weigh up the pros and cons.
ex) I weighed the benefits of the plan against the risks involved.
ex) Potential benefits would need to be weighed against possible costs.
ex) These results indicated that people do not blindly follow crowds, but rather rationally weigh the amount of disapproval they expect to face.
