1. Heads up

: a message that tells or warns sb about sth that is going to happen

 

ex) This note is just to give you a heads-up that Vicky will be arriving next week.

ex) She gave him a heads-up that the company's president will be visiting the office.

ex) Send everyone a heads-up about the changes well in advance.

ex) Thank you for the heads-up.

 

cf) "Just a heads up" is a casual and friendly way to give someone advance notice or warning about something. It's often used when you're giving information that the other person might find useful or necessary to know in advance. 


1. **In a work setting**: "Just a heads up, the boss will be visiting our department tomorrow." This could be useful for colleagues to prepare or tidy their workspaces.
2. **Among friends**: "Just a heads up, the restaurant we planned to meet at is closed for repairs, so we'll need to pick a new place." This would give your friends time to think of alternative locations.
3. **In a housing situation**: "Just a heads up, the water will be turned off in the building for a couple of hours for maintenance." This would give residents time to fill up any water they might need during that time.
4. **In a school environment**: "Just a heads up, the deadline for the assignment has been moved up to Friday." This would give students time to adjust their schedules to complete the assignment.

2. Hardly
: almost not at all (거의 ... 아니다. 없다)
: used to say that sth was almost not possible or almost did not happen. 
(Can, Could 와 함께 쓰여 거의 ~ 할 수 없다. 하기 무척 어렵다 뉘앙스)

ex) We hardly know each other.
ex) I could hardly believe my eyes.
ex) There are hardly any new features in this software.
ex) A mouse can hardly expect to survive more than a year in the wild.

 


3. High-end
: higher in price and of better quality than most others

ex) This is a high-end camera with lots of extra features.
ex) high-end computers
ex) We dined at a high-end Chinese restaurant.
ex) He designs clothes that are available only at high-end boutiques and department stores.

 

4. How do you like
: used to ask someone whether he or she likes something

ex) How do you like the soup? (= Is the soup good?)
ex) How do you like sailing now that you've tried it?
ex) How do you like your new office?
