1. gear up

: to get ready or to cause sb to get ready for sth or to do sth

: If sb is gearing up for a particular activity, they are preparing to do it. If they are geared up to do a particular activity, they are prepared to do it.

 

ex) Cycle organizations are gearing up for National Bike Week. 

ex) The factory was geared up to make 1100 cars a day.

ex) We are gearing up for our trip in June.

ex) Politicians are already gearing up for the next election.

 

2. generate

: to cause sth to exist

: produce

 

ex) The proposal has generated a lot of interest.

ex) His theories have generated a great deal of interest among other scientists.

ex) Brainstorming is a good way of generating ideas.
